TEKS Overhaul Petition

Every petition signed will be presented to the SBOE, during public comments, at the August 30 – September 2 board meeting. The petition states:

I am opposed to the unwarranted overhaul of the K-12 TEKS Social Studies, written by various unelected “work groups.” The revision is unnecessary, age inappropriate, and neglects the true teaching of our Texas heritage, U.S. and World History, Government and Geography. The TEKS revisions are slanted with a globalist view and not American exceptionalism. It reduces the mention of America’s resilience, trust in God and celebration of our Declaration of Independence in Freedom Week, while introducing and expanding concepts of LGBTQ, sexual orientation, and gender identity. It requires students to learn history and government through a world, globalist view that diminishes the value of our American legacy and culture. I implore you to reject the radical revamp of K-12 Social Studies TEKS and get back to true American History, Government, Economics, and Geography.
