This month, Patriot Mobile sponsored the NRA Women’s Leadership Forum (NRAWLF) Summit in Arizona. The NRAWLF is a cross-cultural sisterhood of strong women that support the Second Amendment. Moms, executives, huntresses, activists, and survivors attend this annual summit for fellowship and valuable information.

Best Self-Defense for women: Research supports gun ownership

Economist and scholar John Lott, Ph.D., with the Crime Prevention Research Center said his research shows 76% of police chiefs and 94% of police officers support citizens owning and carrying guns. He pointed out that 94% of mass shootings occur in gun-free zones because criminals purposefully target groups of people that can’t defend themselves. He debunked the false narrative about America having the most gun violence, citing the real scientific numbers that reveal the United States ranks 67th in mass shootings globally. Dr. Lott’s bottom line is more law-abiding citizens with guns equals less crime.

Best Self-Defense for women: Stories from legal gun owners

Nikki Goeser, Executive Director of the Crime Prevention Research Center and author of Stalked and Defenseless, shared her personal experience of being attacked in a gun-free zone. As a law-abiding citizen, she left her legal firearm she normally carried for self-defense locked inside of her vehicle because the restaurant where she and her husband worked was a gun-free zone. When her stalker started shooting her husband, she had no way to defend herself or her husband. Her stalker first shot her husband in the head and then walked up and shot him several more times in front of Nikki as she stood screaming and powerless. She’s transformed this tragedy into a passion to speak out against gun control and is now a Second Amendment Activist and Victims’ Rights Advocate.

Unsung hero, Raul Mendez, saved the lives of his wife, children, and many others, because he was conceal carrying. While Raul was celebrating freedom on Independence Day July 3, 2022 with his family and friends, an intruder walked in and opened fire striking Raul in the head through his left eye. He fell to the ground unconscious but quickly woke up to screams of his family and friends. He regained consciousness, reached for his concealed weapon, and used it to put four shots in the shooter’s chest. As Raul says, if the gunman would have killed his family, the national media would have put this story front and center talking about how evil the gun is. But since he survived, using his legal weapon to stop a crazed intruder, no news channels covered it. Patriot Mobile is proud to share Raul’s heroic story of self-defense and so thankful this beautiful family survived.

Best Self-Defense for women: Firearms are the great equalizer

Patriot Mobile’s Vice President of Public Affairs, Leigh Wambsganss, told a crowded room that women, especially, should value and protect our Second Amendment right as the firearm is a woman’s great equalizer in her ability to protect herself and her family. “One common denominator in societies throughout history that have lost their freedoms and have been brutalized by their governments, the first step, was always to disarm their citizens,” Wambganss said. She continued, “At Patriot Mobile, we know the key to our freedom is protecting our Second Amendment. We know the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy or gal with a gun and at Patriot Mobile, the Second Amendment is non-negotiable.”

One of the many highlights of this year’s summit was Arizona Gubernatorial Candidate Kari Lake’s stellar appearance to stand in solidarity with the strong women of the NRA Women’s Leadership Forum. Lake spoke to the mama bear hearts in the room and committed to protect Arizonans’ Second Amendment Rights.

A recent Harvard study revealed nearly half of new gun owners in America are women. While women are avid hunters, a 2017 Pew Research Center study stated that women cite self-defense as their reason for purchasing a firearm. Each year over 1,000,000 law-abiding Americans use firearms to protect themselves and their loved ones.

As Raul Mendez says, “evil will always exist, and we are prepared to confront it with equal force now more than ever.”
